The BASIC Immigrant Detention and Deportation Defense workgroup supports individuals and families facing immigration detention and the threat of deportation. We are looking for volunteers to provide transportation and accompaniment to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) check-ins and immigration court hearings, bear witness at a detention (taking photos and writing down details), verify reports of ICE presence and possibly be part of a confidential community hotline for immigrants and families seeking help and community residents spotting ICE activity in Berkshire County. We will provide training for all of these roles.
