The Alzheimer's Association leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. With an estimated 13.6% of individuals over 65 affected by dementia in Massachusetts, our goal is to provide expert guidance and support to every family who needs help.
What We Do
Berkshire County Walk to End Alzheimer's Oct. 2, 2021 Adams, MA. Held annually in move than 600 communities nationwide, the Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease. The Alzheimer's Association offers a number of local community educational programs, support groups, and trainings for municipal employees, first responders, and health care providers. We are proud we are able to provide our services at no charge to families and individuals in the community. The Alzheimer's Association MA/NH offers the following programs: Outreach programs for the general public to raise awareness of risk factors and combat dementia-related stigma Programs for family caregivers Support and engagement programs for people living with mild Alzheimer's disease or a memory disorder Programas en español Other education resources including resources specific to caring for a person living with dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic Research: ALZ Talks - open to the general public Our ALZ Talks series features local researchers who discuss brain changes associated with memory loss and different types of dementia, early detection, risk factors and lifestyle interventions, and clinical trials. Additionally, we have been remarkably successful in public policy through our Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) advocacy efforts. We fund the best Alzheimer's science in the world to advance our quest for effective treatments. In Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the Alzheimer’s Association awarded $4,440,098 to researchers in 2020, bringing the total in active funding in our two states to an astonishing $14 million
