Who We Are
Founded in 1986, the original mission of Pittsfield Community Television started in providing access to the medium of television, including training, production facilities, and cablecast time, to the people of Pittsfield and the surrounding community. Starting with a single local channel, the membership-focused PCTV's professional-quality studios created the opportunity to learn the process of creating television programming in a studio or using an editor, allowing members and producers to create opportunities to create hyper-local programs for their community.
As technology has evolved, so has the scope of how PCTV serves our community - as television grew into the modern conception of video, our organization also evolved. Our single cable channel expanded to three, and programs produced by our members can now be seen on social media, and on PCTV Select (our exclusive video app, available on most mobile devices and smart televisions). Our training efforts expanded to other forms of video-based media literacy, with a focus on fighting the "Berkshire County media desert" that results from being in the Albany broadcast market.

What We Do
Pittsfield Community Television's most basic service is to provide access to the community through our cable channels - anyone in Berkshire County can submit a program that they feel that our community needs to see, and after filling out a simple producer agreement that show can reach the community.
However, this is just the beginning of what we do! For less than 2 months of Netflix, you can be producing your own television and video content for an entire year as a member of PCTV! Our members receive access to our extensive production facilities, which include a large television studio, a demonstration kitchen studio, our mobile and portable production equipment, video editors, and more. In addition to access to the equipment, members receive the training to use that equipment effectively, and the support to produce programs of any content, style and length. Finally, PCTV provides a First Amendment protected platform to share those programs, both on our cable channels and through our Internet-accessible video services.
